Junior Leadership Training Academy (JLTA) – Singapore
Six of our Expedition Rangers: Lee Yu Tjin, Samuel Lim, Lim Wee Yen, Kedric Kwan, Zechary Chin and Janice Lai braved their way through the JLTA – in March, held in Singapore.
During the training camp, the six rangers where then divided into three different patrols: Powderful Panda, Royal Jaguar and Fearless Firefox.
For the next four days, work and pressure began to “torment” our rangers. Fortunately, because of their experience, they managed to keep everything in control in terms of leadership and the patrol spirit among members. Eventhough there were specific moments where some felt like giving up but with the help of one another, morale was then build up and thus being able to go on.
After the fourth day, our 6 rangers graduated with flying colours from JTC alongside their other patrol members and receiving mutliple praises from the leaders from Singapore.
As a leader, I am truly proud to say that our rangers have done exceptionally well in the situations that they faced. The skills in them not just in terms of camping skills but as well as the leadership skills in them that made them manage their patrols well. Truly I can safely say that they would be great potential leaders in future in the church and in their work place.
However, all that being said, I would like to say that nothing can be possible without the Lord – For it is the Lord that has blessed them by giving them such great experience and memories.
During the camp, I would say that the main highlight would be the councilfire in all three nights. Although the setting of the councilfire was simple but it was because of the presence of the Lord that made the councilfire impactful.
Significantly the altar call of the final councilfire, where the presence of the Lord was so strong that almost everyone there experienced the touch of God in their life. Also for our boy rangers, they were all weeping as well as praying in one accord for one another. I was really encouraged by that and prayed that more than that will be in stored for all of them as they continue to grow in the Lord.
